During winter 2018, Sarah, Xavier, Jean and Thibault decided to rent a room to stay warm and to overcome their boredom.
The first song which came out of their sessions was B(l)ack. Stuck somewhere between coldwave and pop, this song dealt with childhood, sad parties and dead loves. It was released with Dancing Days in October 2018.
Then came the six tracks which compose Duel. With many different inspirations, this release oscillates between Sarah and Xavier’s voices, ambient waves and dancing rhythms. Sometimes filled with melancholy, sometimes with anger - most of the times with both of these feelings - the 6 tracks which compose "Duel" explore different ambiances.
Mirage may seem to be a simple instrumental songs, but you can actually hear background conversations recorded between two songs during a night session at the studio. It’s actually an argument which happened to be very awkward, especially when Fiasco listened to it.
During summer 2018, while everyone went on vacations, Xavier mixed everything in is Parisian apartment. This is when he discovered a painting made by Carl Fredrik Hill, a Swedish painter that is « sadly unknown ». Untitled The Last Human Beings, it was meant to be the cover of Duel.
This split EP from two France-based musicians is a gem, both artists recalling the glory days of slowcore in their heart-tugging melodies. Bandcamp New & Notable Jun 11, 2023
