Deux mois après l’album Anom et un confinement passé dans son petit appartement parisien, Xavier Ridel est parti s’isoler quelques jours dans une banlieue du Val-de Marne, dans la ville qui avait vu naître le premier album de son projet solo Waterwalls, en 2015.

Ne trouvant rien d’autre qu’une simple guitare et un micro usé par le temps, le jeune musicien a ainsi enregistré en acoustique des auto-reprises et des inédits. Enregistré en deux jours, France, 94 distille une mélancolie nimbée de réverbération, à la fois teintée de peine, de calme et de douceur.

Two months after the release of Anom and a lockdown spent in his small Parisian flat, Xavier Ridel went for a short isolation in a Val-de Marne suburb, in the town in which he recorded the first record of his solo project Waterwalls (in 2015).

With no more than a broken mic and an old guitar, the young musician recorded some auto-covers and a few unreleased tracks. Recorded in two days, France, 94 is filled with a reverberated melancholy, tainted of grief, softness and inner calm.
